- Texas Electric Market Overview: In this course, you will learn about the history and current status of the Texas deregulation system, the role and importance of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), how the market operates from generation to consumption, the nodal, wholesale, and retails markets, the infrastructure layout of the state’s grid, the different categories of market participants, opportunities and risks, and why the state’s grid is distinctly different from anywhere else in the nation.
- Smart Grid 101: This course defines the smart grid, what it brings to the electricity industry, why it’s an important part of our energy future, and how it affects your business. You will become familiar with smart grid technologies, including smart meters, smart appliances, the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid, and other new innovations designed to enable two-way communication for increased efficiency and enhanced reliability.
- Renewable Energy 101: In this course, you will develop an understanding of the different types of renewable energy sources available, how they are integrated with the electric grid, how they will play a big role in the nation’s future, and key issues regarding policy, technology, cost, and incentives.
- Cyber Security: Throughout this course, you will learn about risks associated with computer security, monitoring and protection procedures specific to security activities, methodology for developing security projects, including how to protect your assets and create an effective response plan, and current cyber security risks facing our nation today.
