The Texas Institute is an independent, nonprofit research institute committed to delivering sustainable technology innovation in collaboration with industry, government and leading universities.

The Texas Institute is dedicated to transforming business and improving the human condition by turning ideas into solutions.  Our staff and partnerships provide research and technical expertise in the areas of energy and environmental research, development and commercialization.

The Texas Institute builds on the rich energy history, technology expertise and capabilities resident in Texas to facilitate breakthrough collaboration between Texas businesses, government, and universities for the development of sustainable technology solutions.  The Texas Institute also brings its innovations to the marketplace by licensing its intellectual property, creating new ventures and managing laboratories for its clients.

The Texas Institute was created by Jonathan Shapiro as a center of excellence for energy and technology leaders to collaborate in helping Texas to strengthen its position as an energy innovator and become a major center for sustainable technology research, development and deployment.

The Texas Institute’s goal is to provide research, education, and policy advancement with a permanent research center housing world-class laboratories and scientists.  It will provide our corporate partners opportunities to develop sustainable technology solutions and our university partners’ enriched academic and research capabilities.
